Hey there and thanks for posting pictures of the boat. Was thinking of doing that myself. Looks like you took it to some beautiful water when you owned it! It has only seen the Ohio river since I have owned it. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me about the boat on the occasions I called you. I also talked to Randy Schultz about this computer problem and enjoyed that conversation as well. When Eddie is finished I think trying out some Tennessee water is in order befor heading back to Indiana !

Picked the boat up from Young Performance on Oct 10 th and headed back to Indiana. Weather was cooling off so I elected to put off the Tennessee water experience until next year. Too the boat out on Oct 11th and ran fairly fast numerous times that day. Never got above 90 but showed me what I needed to know before winter set in and I was left wondering all winter! The boat ran great. Idle issue with loading up was gone! This thing would idle all day even with that crazy cam. Slow speeds were smooth and higher speeds no effort . Great to have my old boat back! Took it out again last week for about 3 hours and cruised slow all day 30-60 mph mostly at 30...purred along . Very relaxing day as I was thrilled to be out again this late in the season.
Many thanks to Eddie and Travis for everything. I am very pleased and hope I never see him again....HA! Thanks to all for you input

yep - he does good work. I think that was you on Deadmans a few weeks ago, if I remember correctly. Stop by and say hi sometime.

gorexer - Thanks for reporting back.

What was the issue and what was done while there ?

Young Performance 11-04-2015 07:42 PM

We aren't sure what happened with the Mefi 3 that was in it, but it was toast. I could not communicate with it at all. So that means that i couldn't get the cal out of it. We had another Mefi 3 to put in it, but I had to tune it from scratch. It has a pretty large solid roller and Big Chief heads. I didn't have a cal with that combo of parts for a quadrotor and a Mefi 3. I had something that was halfway close enough to get it started and I had to work it from there. We took the boat out a couple of times, plus working the tune on the trailer for a few hours. We spent quite a few hours getting the tune dialed in on the lake. But, before we could even start we had to add O2 bungs to the pipes.

Luckily, it's not making a ton of boost so it wasn't horrible to tune in the boat. The problem with tuning from scratch in the boat is that you can only tune it where you can put it. On the dyno, I can hold the engine at any rpm and any amount of load that I desire. In the boat, it isn't so easy. So, we rode around at different rpms and trimmed the drive, then buried it to increase the load. I'll bet I got the boat on and off plane 50-60 times. I was very happy with the tune when it was all said and done. I could have done a little better with some dyno time, but it's really close.

I'm still not sure what happened to the original Mefi 3 to cause it to take a dump. It's not very often that one goes completely dead like that.

Glad to hear that you are happy Brad. Thanks again for you business. We really appreciate it.
Eddie

I think Eddie answered your question SB. Yes easyrider1340, I was at deadmans a couple of weeks ago. Just had to know everything was cool before winter. I will look you up next spring. Both our boats are pretty unique so you should be easy enough to spot. Thanks again to all and looking forward to next spring (although I am not counting out this year quite yet!)

6 seasons on a 572 quadrotor and the only thing that took a dump was a PCM ... man I wish I had your luck.
