I would get a different style pick up that you can mount on the notch

I think the spot you are thinking about could easily suck in air when trimmed up.

I actually do have that style pickup already. It is not long enough to work. We screwed up locating the hole for the transom pickup and made it too short for that model. Three guys measuring more than I can count and we still screwed it up. The one you're looking at is a custom made pickup from Teague so this is what I have to work with.
