Steering turns lock to lock?

I have installed full hydraulic steering on my Formula 311 and totally love it. Smooth, zero play, holds the boat great at higher speeds in mixed chop etc., and best is that the steering wheel doesn't move unless I move it.

My old cable steering was around 3 turns lock to lock and the hydraulic is closer to 5. I do have to turn the wheel a bit more around the docks, but other than that there is no difference. So is 5 turns within the average?, how many turns does your boat with full hydraulic steering take?

Edit: I do have 9 inch rams, so it is probably another full turn than if you had say 7 inch rams.

If I remember correctly mine is 1 1/2 lock to lock.

5 turns lock to lock is a lot. Mine is around 2.5-3.

The number of turns is determined by the helm pump size.

Okay thanks, yeah I thought it seemed more like 3 was typical. I can always get a bigger displacement helm, but actually it seems fine as the last turn to either side I don't really use anyway since they are 9 inch rams they turn the drives almost to their limit (but not quite of course, so not stressing the gimble).
