Surpentine belts

Has anybody out there in boating land converted their BB's to surpentine belts from the standard V belt configuration? Heard the pulleys are rather expensive:( . There must also be some mods so everything lines up:confused: I guess??

I believe that if the water pump is driven off the back (smooth) side of the belt that it will be a reverse rotation pump. Can't help you much more than that though...:(

Cord, That's right I never thought of that. But don't new Merc's have surpentine belts. Or are the pumps bi-directional. I just bought 2 new pumps for my new engines.:rolleyes:chit

I asked this same question a few months ago. It was indicated to me that the cost was not worth it. Other then that, I didn't get much response either.

I'm thinking that you would need all new brackets, and some new accessories. Proably not worth the cost. You'd be best off buying the entire dress off a motor than trying to piece it together.

Actually , I was hoping it could be done simply with the offset of the pulleys. Trouble is the pulleys Merc sell are WAY  expensive.
