fountain 33 vs 29

I am looking at getting a 2008 33 lightning or a 2005 29 fever

Lightning has twin 496's while 29 has a single 525

the price difference is quite a lot between the two. Not much info on the 33 but from what I can find it seems that it has a smaller cockpit than the 29. I will be boating not too far from shore and as long as I can hit mid 70's I'm happy.

My question is, is it worth spending the extra dough four a gain of four feet and an extra motor? Before you throw in the 35 as a viable option, a 2005+ lightning is out of my price range.

Thank you.

EDIT: Never seen a 33 Lightning before. Oops.

Fountain made a 33 foot lightning in 2008. They didn't sell many of them. Both very nice boats... But if you don't need twins I stick with the 29.

I think the 33 wasn't produced until 2008. Certainly has the new cockpit and new cabin. Will do a tick over 80 with the standard 496's whereas a 29 with a 525 may get you to 75 but there'll be nothing left. They only built a small number, I think it was too close in price to a 35, the economy had tanked and Fountain hit troubles.

I love the 33 but at the price people are asking, there are quite a few 35 executioners with the same power if you like the exe. I would have thought you'd find a lightning that would make your price bracket too but you say not, I guess I'm wrong.

In my opinion, there's no comparison between the two boats, I'd go the 33 with bullet proof black motors and the new interior. Of course, it's not my money....!

Do some searching, there's quite a bit of info on the 33. Here's a couple of links to get started:

Good luck!
