I fit strainers in my 32, you should have plenty of room if it's a Bravo boat.

BUP/John, where do those brackets mount that come with the Mercury/Mercruiser kits?
I bought Mercury kits many years ago, but could not find a place that the supplied brackets were designed to fit. Also, the connectors that shipped were not panel mount. I plan to upgrade them to something from here; which looks family to the original parts supplied in the Merc kit: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/ite...lickid=popcorn http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/ite...4758&catid=926 <----these are panel mount |
Brian here is a pic.
Since I do not know how to post my own pics up here - I found this one for now. http://www.stripersonline.com/image/...50/height/1000 |
hope that helps somewhat. I have installed the Merc ones and even for the 496 as well. Actually I like them for an after the fact install. The Volvo is cheaper as I just the buy the parts and then buy my own water cooling hose since I am dealer for MPI marine water & exhaust hoses and fuel lines.
I have made my own brackets or used mercs as well. I also use & fabbed composite food cutting boards for a mounting persay bracket for the hose and its connector. The composite food cutting boards, I cut and shape how ever and then finish out. You can find some in many colors as well. I even painted some with spray paint for plastics, those came out nice - even a close match to Merc racing Blue done a bunch of those that came out really nice... The cutting boards are very strong and cheap to buy and never will corrode. Keep in mind it also makes a support for the hose and mount for the connector however you fabbed it. You can mount that basically anywhere in the engine compartment with a long enough hose attached for the garden hose to connect to. Just an FYI |
