I would like to add fuel stabilizer, it will be sitting for another 3 months. My question(s): 1. At this point should I even bother? 2. What are the effects on the Boostane, running about a 99-100 octane mix right now. 3. I believe the fuel was non-ethanol (93), but could have 10% in it. Please advise, do not want to cause any damage when we bring it out in the Spring. Engines are 572 w/14-71s running about 8:1 comp & 5lbs of boost at WOT, 5800rpm. |
October to spring..? same for me, every year. I just take it easy till I use up the old fuel. I don`t know anyone that pumps it out or gives it too much thought.
Obviously you don`t go WOT out of the marina. |

Bingo on the avatar
I always pump the fuel out in the fall and run it in my gas vehicles. I added STABIL one year and come spring I didn't even make it out of the channel and I was running on one engine and the other was running rough. |

^^^Not a bad idea either. $8 / gal !

I do treat the fuel with seafoam and stabilizer before I put it away.

With those specs your wasting your time and money adding anything to the fuel or running 99 octane. Your doing more bad than good. 8 to 1 comp with a 14-71 at only 5 lbs or boost would probably run on 89 octane . 92 with ethanol would be plenty safe . 99 octane is killing power.
Thank you for all the information here. |
A full tank will get way less condensation then an empty tank and five months with non-ethanol fuel is not bad at all

Appreciate the moisture comment, but I was more concerned with how Fuel Stabilizer + Octane Boost + 93oct reacts after sitting for 5 months. There has to be some compromise of stability & consistency there.

Isn't the problem with older gas that it loses some volatility negating the octane issue? I'm in Northern California without much of a winter, but pretty much fill the tank and park it from November to May and just run it until it's near empty then refill. It definitely runs better with the fresh fuel but I haven't had any issues on a mild 502/500hp N/A.
