Cool. Looking forward to how it works out.

Yeah me to. Problem I'm having now is trying to find a set of rods. Can't find a set anywhere. Even tried buying Chinese.

After some back and fourth I ended up buying a cam from Jones. Only company that had a reasonable turn around time. It's difficult to get 55mm cores with small lobes.

I was up against the same thing. As most 55mm cores are made for much larger duration than I need for my application.

That's what they told me when I bought them but still had the failure. One lifter hammered the bearings out of it and 3-4 other were on their way out. I ran the same setup since 2007 without other issues.

I hate to hear that. I have 2 sets sitting here ready to go in. They sure look like morels. Hope they are.

Myself and a few buddies have been running morels for quite some time now, and they have been great. I wouldnt worry about them as long as the cam, and rest of the valvetrain is correct.

I was running the solid lifters. Maybe it was a bad set. I bought them and installed them in April 2010 and had the failure in May of 2014 (Memorial Day weekend of all weekends) after 200hrs of use. They lasted 200 hours so they weren't total junk. The bearings went bad and not the lifter body. They just didn't last as long as the others that I've used in those engines since 2007. Can't speak for their quality past 2010, I'm just sharing my experience.

DO the morels have axle oiling? I know a nice feature on my Johnsons is that over the standard Johnsons, I think I was told the solids do but not the hydraulic in Morel?

What are your thoughts on this cam for a 540, 9:1, ported 088 heads, gill wet exhaust, looking for 5800 rpm.
239/246, 646/639, 112 cl, and 7/4 swap? On the desk top dyno it looks pretty good for what I am looking for.

I'm starting to think flat tappet, Brad Penn and some ZDDP is the way to go.

I agree. Roller needle bearings are everyone's number one fear. Flat tappets, bushings or even those fancy carbon ceramic lifters seem like a good idea.

Yeah, I have ran and installed a several sets of Morels/PBM's that look just like these. Never have used the "howard" flavor though. I don't think there is a difference and I got these for a good price.
