4.5 inch stroke crank???
I was on FlatLanders website looking at stroker kits and they list a 4.5 inch stroke for a 454 anyone running one?????it gets you to 525 cubic inch......bigger is better!!!!right????

Doesn't a 4.5" stroke require quite a bit of clearancing?
|
you might run into a problem tring to install a 4.5" stroke in a short deck engine, you will need a tall deck 10.200 deck height with a bit of grinding on the pan rails for clearance of the rods. then youll need some .400 long rods and pistons, heck..might as well make it a 572 or 588 for the same money

4.5 Stroke
Dyno,
If your trying that in a 9.8 standard deck, it's to much rod angle. Some guys do but it's pretty high risk. 10.200 tall deck on the other hand is just fine. Add a 4.5 bore with that 4.5 crank and you have a 572 ci. Cougarman |
thanks guys guess I'll stay with 4.25 and 496CI......

A 496" engine isn't too bad for a boat because it runs low RPM's (5500) for it to be unreliable. I have know a few guys who've run them in there offshore boats---even with blowers. I think Doctor Dave even ran a pair at one time in his 35'Cig without any problems.
