Vortech V4 Supercharger set-up on a GenXI 502
So...I have a new to me Vortech V4 supercharger w/intercooler and looking for some setup guidelines, advice, or even feedback if this is a bad idea all together, lol.
The motor is a fairly fresh Gen VI 502 with forged internals, 9.6:1 scr,,ZZ502GM cam, fresh valve job on the Edelbrock oval port performer heads and manifold using Fel-Pro gaskets and ARP head bolts, CMI headers, DUI distributor, and ambitions of a closed loop FI in the near future. First and foremost, if adding this supercharger sounds like a bad idea let me know now as I'd really just like a fun summer of boating this year, and it's going in a Baja272 Islander. Second, I guess, would be power expectations so I can size the correct FI system. I'm guessing about 650? Theoretically the engine should be at about 500hp NA now. I know that it's a tired old question, but here I am. Timing? Lock out the distributor? Set about 32*? Thanks in advance! |
And yes XI in the title just because I'm that far ahead of my time. ;)
OK - the first problem, it looks like the charger oil dump needs to be tapped in to the oil pan. That's not going to happen. :I |
Do a search also while waiting for others. I know I've seen several threads on forum who did the same

You can also drain it in the valve cover

Is thare any reason to not tee it in to the line line pre filter in case of bearing failure in the blower or do the pressures combat each other?

The charger drain line , when I was researching these a couple years ago that seemed to be a concern of some that if it pukes the innerds end up in the pan.
