by SB's numbers, those are .100 longer than stock pushrods. the size found in aluminum heads. did the head guy measure the valve lengths? what dia are the valve heads? what dia stems?

by this pic, rocker is too high, starting the tip on the out side of the valve stem.what is the measurement of the back of the rocker arm to the guide plate.most should, rough start at around .375"

griff, The only reason i went to the rollers was because mine were pretty grooved and also grooved way off to one side. they must have been original - 1999 motors with about 700 hours. If i pull the motors out in future when needed i will add cams.

Motors were top and bottom rebuilt in 2012 by a shop in texas where I purchased the boat. But i have had issues with the motors so I'm trying not to rule anything out.

The valves came with it and some had been replaced, but all were the same length. 3/8 stems.
INSTALLED VALVE HEIGHT - 1.880 All where within a couple thousands of that when installed.

Springs came with it but my brother checked the spring tension at open and closed and they were all close. pressure 130/140 closed and 320 open.

DerekNKathy. i dont know the length but they are 3/8 stem diam. or a few thousanths less i think.
1.880 installed height - checked each one. all within about .002.

By any chance were the stock rocker arms non adjustable? Then the studs would be wrong.

Sutphen30. The vertical height, i presume you are talking about, between the guide plate and up underneath the rocker at the very tip of the pushrod end is 0.450 on the exhaust and .440 on the intake valves. only checked a couple. Roughly .060 to .070" more than the 3/8 you mentioned.

if the 3/8 is a correct number, then that would indicate my push rods may be that same (.060 to .070) too long - which would give me about another 1 1/2 threads on the rocker stud.

let me go measure the push rods as close as i can using squares and laying them down on a good tape measure. My caliper isnt long enough for these rods. but i think i can measure +/- a 32nd, certainly a 16th.

Also i will do the markalot geometry procedure. will report back.

yes the stock ones were the stamped steel non adjustable. But those take the bolts with the smooth shaft and exact shaft/shoulder length so those bolts dont work at all on these roller rockers. I bought AFR 1.90" 3/8 head x 7/16" rocker studs.

Those are the correct rocker arm studs to convert from a non adjustable to an adjustable.

Bottom line IMHO is to buy 2 adjustable pushrods, adjust as per Lunati tech bulletin (very good reference) and see where you are. Without the pushrods at correct length nothing else matters, yet.

I just spent 30 minutes scouring the internet, your right, a 3/8ths by 7/16 stud does not appear to exist, something funky with those rocker arms is my guess, try a crane gold or equivalent and see how many threads you have.
