I'm not. I use them on everything.
My Mark IV stroker 496,

And on the Kiekhaefer 482's (stroked 427 tall blocks)

If I put a BBC in it it gets 496 Merc manifolds and risers. I even have a guy that can shorten of lengthen the risers to what ever I need.
Its a good deal and if you don't pick them up I'm going to just to have on the shelf.

Here is a set I had shortened for a Donzi 18. The guy does great work and is cheap. Not trying to pitch his work but more about it cost me about $600 total buying everything and altering them to fit under the hood. Would have cost 1000's more for any other exhaust to fit with no gain with (like said) motors under 550+ real HP. I think my 496 stroker is in that range and a little more so I did a little porting and polishing on the flanges and runners (it's aluminum and easy to do) over the winter and already took out the drip edge gasket between the risers and manifolds which even opens them up more. It's on the edge of being able to squeak out a couple more HP with better exhaust but I refuse to pay more for the exhaust then it cost to build most of the motor. For being stock except for what labor I did to them and new metric ss studs and bolts and a home built stand for the remote oil filter to bolt to I've got about $360 in the whole exhaust system.

I wasn't saying they aren't good, just joking about buying them from the link he posted which would obviously be a complete dick move, thats' all.

It's been proven hundreds of time they perform extremely well at moderate power levels. You have to spend a LOT more money to do better or for a slightly better look.

I got ya bro. Just trying to tell the OP to make the deal before someone else sees this and does take it from him.. Even if I had a 330 merc motor I would use the 496 exhaust if for just the weight loss alone.

I paid 500 for a 20 hrs takeoff alum 496 set of manifolds to replace my original 496 cast iron models. Swapping them out netted a 66lb weight savings. Could not justify $3k for a 20hp gain and maybe 1 mph with the Dana, CMI exhaust. I pulled the turbulator plates and welded 12" stainless extensions onto the risers making them dry to the transom. This exhaust is perfect in the 500-525 hp range especially with the mods noted above. The Mercury Racing 520 comes with this exhaust.

I suppose not. They had two freshwater seasons on them for $150. I didn't know they were going to cast iron and the aluminum ones were sought after. Again: I saw zero gain with CMI headers on the 496 HO. Big gain with the 525 though ...
