Steering, I believe all you do is leave the cap off and keep turning lock to lock while sitting at an idle.........keeping an eye on the fluid level of course.

Biggest no no is to let it run out of fluid I like to use a drill to spin the pump and watch the fluid level. Do you have two pumps? If you try to do it running start it and turn the wheel all the way one direction and shut the engine off let the air come out of the fluid. Keep repeating that.
