taking mild thunders advice
been having docking issues since new with these 750s pfaffs . they just don't like back n fourth docking , . mild told me to put on some Daytona sensor ignitions on..Got Mark Rinda from Mer flying over to do all the initial installation and programming . Hes sure helping me out, and reaching out to a member .. thanks to both mild thunder, and mark rinda from Mer.out of N.C. I cant wait, nothing more nearve racking than engine dying right at the dock when you need the meneuving the most .
|
Joe has helped me a ton with advice and just a good person, even drove 2 hours to help when we dynode my engines, some guys here see him as a jerk but not at all... great guy!
|
What rpm are the motors idling at?
|
Thanks for the kind words Rob. You are in good hands , Mark will get you straightened out. If you need anything, give me a ring.

Would like to hear your results. And also, what was the scenario before? Surging?
I have to gas it a little when I put it in gear, or it will stall. It's not terrible, but would be awesome if I could just shift. Not sure how practical that is with my setup. |
last time I listened to Joe (mild thunder), I wound up naked, hog tied, and coated in honey.... it was weird. :)
Seriously... Mild thunder is a great guy and his knowledge is quite impressive! Top notch!!! |

Picture this... honey everywhere... like gluing appendages to each other... a bit painful... :)
So..... yeah, it was kinda neat! lol |
This year we gotta be careful, the bees are out in full force. Im not sure honey on your genitals to attract bees, is the best way to go about a penis enlargement.
Ill have to "google" that though to be sure :cartman: |

Joe MT is a great guy wish there were more like him willing to contribute on this forum and just to go boating with!
Mark R. Is another one of the good guys. You will love your Daytona Sensors I love mine! |
The Daytona CD-1 is excellent !!!!
Everyone knows what it's like messing with flyweights and springs in the distributor....Locking out the timing isn't the solution to the problem. No one needs 28-34 degrees of timing at idle or lower RPMS and especially at peak torque areas... Piston speed is slow and complete burn of the fuel at 800-1000 rpms with high timing makes the burn inefficient.... Blower engines will have surge, stalling and so on... 3 week ago I made a trip to one of my customers that I built 1150s for 3 years ago or more. We were able to adjust carbs, but timing was locked out...he had surge and sometimes would stall depending if he was on the high rpm or low. I talked him into switching, all said and done he was impressed.... He says; he can't blame his docking skills on the boat anymore. It's a 38 Top Gun with 3 As |
They struggle to idle at 900. These dominators. Just don't like 600 in gear . They just die. When they were in the fountain with tranny idled them up a bit. But now with there's xr drives trying to get them to idle a bit lower. 😊

Are the Daytona Sensors Ignitions reliable over the long haul? It just seems like a lot of aftermarket items are falling short of OEM quality these days. Aren't DS US made? That would be a big + normally.
|
I've heard issues with msd. IBut my crane boxes. With I believe the owner of Daytona worked for crane ? I heard only good things so. Far. It's a boat not if its when it will break lol

I redid 572's w/ dom's(originally hawk 750's) and a 254,262 ls112 cam, came in at just over 750hp.they idle beautiful in and out of gear win an old cig w/ 3's.merc hp-v8 modules firing old gold crane boxes.I'd play w/ the carbs some more while strapped to the dock.also hook up a vacuum gauge and try for the highest reading out of gear, then turn 1 screw to get it to stay idling in gear.no thermostats and engines run at 100°.
not that it should matter but carbs are mounted side to side(bowls). good luck,no reason a 572 shouldn't idle well. |
What are you currently running for ignition boxes?
