Shubeck Lifters

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY---
I am thinking on going to shubert lifters and roller cam this winter. What results have you guys seen.

I almost went to them last year. I do not know anyone actually running them in a boat. I talked to a drag race guy that has had good luck. I did talk with a very popular hp valve train supplier last year that had done some testing with them. They reported that they worked fine, except if you happen to let the lifter get out of adjustment. They claimed that the ceramic? coating on the lifter foot can chip or crack and things get ugly. That was enough to scare me away. Idea does seem to have merit and would be great if they did work! Give it a shot and keep OSO informed!

For boats, "Mr.Gadgets" is running the Schubeck solid flat lifters and "jdnca1" is running Schubeck's solid radius lifters. Neither has experienced any problems as of yet.

anyone else??

I'm running a set of the radius lifters in my 632 and have been impressed so far. I got the same grind on my cam as I had on a traditional solid roller cam and put these to the test on the dyno without changing anything else. Power was essentially unchanged across the power curve with the Schubecks vs a standard roller lifter. Since the Schubeck lifters weigh less than half of a reg. lifter you can also run much less spring. With the Schubecks there are no moving parts to break and the rockwell hardness is a 95...very, very, hard. The lifters look ceramic, but are some sort of "aerospace composite" material. They arn't cheap either. Joe claims you will see these in NHRA pro stock next year. I've also heard Comp is hard at work in developing something similar from a company rep.

What was the cost to enlarge the lifter bores to 1 inch and bronze wall them???.

Couldn't tell you......it wasn't done. ;)
