Trim pump fluid?

Replacing trim pumps and I have had several suggestions on what to fill them with! ATF, power steering fluid, hydraulic fluid. Which is best? Thanks

It's supposed to be oil but I have a couple with ATF in them.

Pretty sure Mercury says 10-30w oil

We just had a thread on this a couple weeks ago. Pretty much boils down to your choice. Mercruiser says Mercruiser power steering and trim fluid, 10w30 or 10w40.

Others successfully use atf or power steering fluid which I use. Climate etc can play a part also. Up here in northern Michigan the lighter the better for quicker response.

With all the comments on other thread I assure you you'll be fine with any of the above. Just don't mix

What happens when you mix them?

My pump has a sticker on it that says 20W-20 oil. Never could find it so I have 5w-20 in it. Like getrdunn said, most anything will work, just don't mix.
