new to owning a boat got a boat that needs love coming

Ive spent a lot of time on other boats, but this will be my first boat, getting a 77 scarab 28" with twin 350s that has been sitting for a year or so due to the owner passing. I was wondering If I could or would be better off putting a single with a bravo, or just getting the other 2 going ( if they don't run ) and can I convert them to bravos ? and just any other info Id probably like to know being in this situation getting a boat that needs love.

Thanks.

That boat looks like it's been sitting for a lot longer than a year:
No trying to bust your balls, but I'd keep looking as that's a MAJOR project.

Well I don't need love coming but do have a little advice regardless. Lol. Welcome to the board for starters. Only sitting for a year or so assuming engines ran prior to owner passing I'm sure they'll be fine. Pull the plugs and roll the engine over by hand. I would pull distributors and prime the engines prior to putting the hose to them and starting. I didn't pay much attention but I'm assuming those are points dist so ck and set gap accordingly. Assuming transom is solid I'd leave the twin sbc set up. Possibilities are endless however possibilities can also get extremely pricey.

Is that a pile of wood schit under the steering wheel on the floor ?

They are HEI from what I can tell by pic on phone so disregard the points. As stated in above post it does appear this has perhaps sat a little longer than mentioned but that doesn't mean it's not resalvagable. Has it been covered, wintereized, etc. Look for cracks in exhaust manifolds as well as blocks. Blocks will more than likely be more difficult to see cracks as they usually crack under the heads btwn water jackets. Sometimes near the freeze plugs as well but not always. Just depends. Take your time before purchasing just to make sure you don't end up with something that will require more money and time than that you could find another in better shape etc.

Get inside and knock on the transom in numerous places as well as the stringers. You'll hear the difference in density very quickly. Hey all depends on what kind of a project your looking for. ive seen engines sit out in back yards in harsh environments for many years and be fine.

Looks like a maple tree sapling is growing out of the lower left corner of pic.

Look to the right all around the door on the floor. Looks like a bunch of wood schit.

The weed stash is in the floating 2 piece key chain. That's why they make these right ?
