I agree with Mike, it is not a necessity but it is kind of like a car in that it is makes it easy to check. If you see red fluid in the bilge, find the leak.

if you install it it will need to be above the pump, but will work fine even dual ram without it, make sure you have a P/S cooler and I suggest using GM non foaming HP P/S fluid, ran my dual ram system this way for 5 years
