I've had a bad transmission since I bought the boat. It's a 86 scarab panther that was repowered at some point with 385hp 454 efi magnums
The tag is red 10.17.016 Noit sure what the 016 denotes, but from what I have read these arent actually rated for the power, but I also read somewhere they were used with some 375hp setup with the trs.
I was just going to buy the standard overhaul kit. Basically the trans gives out if I put too much power to it, I have limped it using much less throttle and relying on my other drive to plane it out for a few years but thats very f'n annoying. If I giv it too much it will just let go and bounce off the rev limiter. I'm assuming the clutches are gone.
Can I add more or anything to get a little more reliablity out of it?

C71's are for small blocks. C72's are for big blocks.
I do use a C71 in my Biesemeyer behind a BBC but that's a tiny little boat. In my 24' Nova they are 72's.
Also I don't know where you are located but I know a great guy local (Maryland)
