What about a Velocity 290 SC ? Think that's the direction I'm heading next..

85 MPH with a 525. decent cabin (for a 29' boat) with an enclosed head.

One I was watching just sold . they were asking $48,000 with a 600sc Generator, AC, Heat and fridge..

I ran a 288 MCOB for 4 years and loved the boat never had and issue other than routine maintenance the quality and finish very good in my opinion. You mentioned big power I have seen a couple of 525 MCOB 288's but they are hard to find, mine only had the 496 Mag and was a 63-65mph boat as for the cockpit size 5 people easily and I would let two set up front if we were just cruising at lower speeds. The pads above the mid-cabin provide additional seating and room to move when anchored, as for getting in/out of the mid cabin I'm 5'11 and the door on the front and back were both easy to navigate. I ran a one poker run every season and boat on two large lakes in western KY that could get pretty rough on the holiday weekends and with the tabs down a little and the 28* dead rise hull it was a smooth ride. Never been on LOTO and I understand it gets nasty some weekends but if I ever downsize from our 32 Sunsation I would go back to the 288 in a minute.

Wow i didn't realize the deadrize was so steep on those 288s, i bet they cut through damn good. Yeah I'm 5' 10" ish or something like that, so I'm sure it wouldn't be bad. I just don't want to have to crawl down under every time is all. I'd be fine with one with moderate power, but id like to build something wild on the side and know that the hull i put it into will respond well, just trying to think ahead. As far as the Velocitys go, i know they are fast ass hulls, but I've talked to a few people that had them and apparently the Ozarks will beat you to death in them? The ones with the fairings look good, but the windshield boats look a little 'tarded to me. That's just me though. I have a feeling it's gonna be between a 288 Sunsation or a 29 Warlock world class! Now just gotta concentrate on getting the Scarab sold I guess... lol

A 288 Sunsation does not have 28 degrees deadrise at the transom. More like 24 degrees and it has a small pad. People knock on pad bottom boats as being rough riding but in my experience if you fly them level you cannot tell a difference in landing verses a vee all the way to the transom. When Wayne designed the Innovator, which became the current 32 S, SS, SSR twin step boat hull, it initially was a true vee to the transom. After a year or two he blocked the mold to add a small pad like the previous 32 Dominator had.

Yep, the faster the better. Mine is smoother at 70 than cruising at 40.

He is correct its 24* not the 28* I stated...brain fart on my part. Still a good riding boat in moderate chop.

Boy, could I tell you stories about "Brain-Fart"!
(sorry, inside joke)
I had forgot about the Superboat 30. There were a few in Factory-1 that ran really well. Great in rough water but slightly off of the top speeds of the class.
The Warlocks were screamers. I raced one once in Daytona, (I think) Nice boat that ran good in the rough. Not sure about actual top speed numbers.

Checkmate Convincer 300. Will run about 65 with a 496 mag. Few of them out there running triple digits.

I remember a 30 Checkmate, pinkish paint job, called "After Flight."
Had to be big power because he Whupped my old Velocity!
To be honest, I kind of forgot about Checkmate. Does anyone have experience with the ZT 280?
Anything else?
