Never been too big of a checkmate fan, just don't like the looks all that much but that's just me, i know they are fast. The zt's with the fairing instead of the windshield are kinda cool looking tho. I REALLY wanna ride in a 28 heat and see how rough they really are in the slop tho... because i really like them. The open cuddy and built in cooler holders are nice. They look roomy and have a great body line to them, & i really like the integrated platform, not to mention they can take big power well. Just worried about that 22 degree deadrise in the LOTO water...

I love love my 35 nordic. I was the only one with 1 on the chain for a year. Now there are 3! The orhers are 28 and 26. The guy with the 28 loves his says it rides awesome. Not sure on speed only has the 496. The cabin and cockpit space are next to none. We had a 29.9 formula and had to buy the 35 just to have the same space the we were used to with the formula. I would highly recommend the nordic. All around. I actually bought it in LOTTO.

Who else (that's still in business) makes a big single? Or, are there any other 2000 or newer step-bottom boats out there that run a respectable speed with a single?

What about Pantera 28? Seems to be a solit boat but heavy i think. The Warlock 29 is my favourite yet.
I´m also looking for a 27-30 footer single engined. No family boat.

Pretty sure of the group only the Lavey is Vacuum bagged during construction.

Warlock has wood floor Lavey 2750/29/32/39 are fully interlined with all fiberglass cockpit that drains to the bilge.

Gunwhale storage in Lavey vs both is all fibreglass and inserted in mold so its a permanent fixture.

The other 3 boats all have substantial amounts of cloth interior thats inserted after vs built in.

Not sure how other measure their boat but the lavey doesn't include the swim step in the length so each one would be 1.5 ft or more longer overnight if they changed the way they measure.

Dave,
Your right on the Warlock floor, but many are glassed over (instead of linered) which gives you the benefits of both.
