I'm looking at buying a 525 weiand 177 single carb set up It will be going on a gm 502 ho 450hp in a 93 fever it runs 67-69 now. What can I expect for hp gains and speed gains with the SC? I'll be buying it used from what I understand it came off of 525hp 454. What will I need to tune for a 502 or does it not require any? Also how much HP can the stock bravo handle?

Thats not the best supercharger for your application. Its on the small side on a 454

Will it still provide a significant HP gain being smaller SC? what's the con's..more intake heat

Small block blowers on a Big Block don't work very well. Especially one with 502 ci. Find a bigger blower.

it will work but will be stressed to the limit on the 502, ran one on a 489 and did ok, start with the stock jetting, should be close, best to fine tune with a 02 to get right, careful on flame arrester as the wrong one will kill the boost, if it has the the stock non changable pulley from merc you probably will only see about 3-4psi, the snout can be changed to use std wiend pulley's to get boost up to 5-6

I would hold off, and save up some extra cash for a larger blower.

Why did it come off of the 454? It's usually easy to find a 177 because people pull them off for a bigger unit. It will work on a stock 454 but better and safer power can be made with a bigger blower. A small blower seems better than no blower, but at the end of the day after all of the trouble of setting it up etc most folks wish they went bigger and be done with it. That was my findings when I looked into a deal on a 177. A 250 fits within the same vertical space but a much better unit.

Generally speaking, all things equal, the same blower, at the same ratio, will usually net about 2lbs less boost, on a 502, than it will on a 454. So, if the blower was making 5lbs on a 454, expect about 3 on a 502. If it was making 5lbs on a 330HP 454, I'd expect about 2lbs on a 500HP 502.

The only way to get that boost back, is increasing the blower speed. This adds heat. Not only is heat bad for detonation points, but, it also kills power. Those 177's have a very small window of where, spinning them faster, makes so much heat, you're not making much more power at 7psi, than you were at 5psi.

On 10-71, 420 Mega blowers, going from 5lbs to 7lbs, the gains are substantial on 454-540ci's. At 6psi, I made 761hp. at 7.5psi on the next pull, it made 810ish. 50hp from 1 and a half psi. Thats alot. You'll never see that with a 177 being driven at 115% plus overdrive.

Yeah I see what you guys are saying sounds like it's definitely not worth the time. What would be a good/reasonably priced carb kit? Is the 250 the twin carb kit
