single plane intake manifold on a SBC

At what point do you gain by putting on a single plane intake on a SBC.. This motor will be WOT 5500 rpm and it is used above 4000 rpm most of the time. Low end performance is not a issue...

Any input?

WHAT.. nobodys opinion or advice.. OHH I see you all think I am going nuts :D :D :D

if the intake you have now is a restriction at high rpm, and you don't care about losing a little torque at low end, than try it. you have emi's on the exhaust already so i bet a single plane will help.

You're not nuts, we're just slow. :D

A single plane will boost top end with a loss at low end while a dual plane will boost low and mid range, not as good at top end.
Running at 4K to 5K is in the single plane range.
I think a single plane is good from 2500 on up.

Does that answer yopur question?

Traviss, I have two Edelbrock Victor Jr. #2975 I need to sell for 125.00 ea. including shipping. They have been hot tanked, and never ported. The 2975 will fit non-vortec style heads. Jegs has them for 175.99. Interested?

Thanks guys. :) I think I'l run a single plane and if i don't like it, I'll put a dual plane on it .. simple :D whos cares how fast you get going..... all that matters is who gets there first :D

Jr- I don't know what my heads will be yet.. So i don't know which intake bolt pattern i will need. Once i find out I will let you know bro.. thanks

Works for me. When I had them on my SBC's I didn't have any problems getting out of the hole. So I wouldn't worry about that too much. Just pick the right heads. Intakes are cheap which ever way you go. I think my Performer RPMs were 100 bucks.

intakes

I would run a single if you got a 383 stroker or a 406 long rod, but not on a 327. Charlie

this is just a 383. gonna have a set of AFR heads. :)

Your light rig will like the single plane manifold. Find a Holley Strip Dominator and run it with a 1" spacer. My dads 355 loves it and it still has plenty down low. You can find those manifolds for sale at nearly every swap meet in America for around $75 to $100 bucks.
