Looks like a coil can be fine on a dyno, and not fine in a boat...!!! Engines even, air fuels back to normal...!

I learned something here.:ernaehrung004:

all good, no I am swapping ignition parts tomorrow after work, test this weekend, one part at a time, I didn't mess with things on engines much because of the dyno showing same, but ignition can act up in boat and not on dyno, so I am going to start looking there now..

No.

They just don't have last word on actual performance. The performance on the water, or track,or etc does.

It is an interesting thread.

Any new info ?

People told me I was thinking too far out of the box, I knew it was ignition when I jetted down and saw nothing on wideband, not bad for a retard that can't build engines lol

I had the reverse issue some years back.

Added an MSD and got a lean surge. Removed MSD and everything ran fine.

Fought myself with how and why a lean surge vs a misfire that felt like a lean surge.

Anyway, after fuking around, put he MSD back in and the car responded at the track (1/4 mile) with a few more jet sizes over what it ran previously with the previous good ignition.

The MSD (6AL box , Blaster II coil) was added as a possible upgrade....not because it was deemed necessary because of an issue.

MSD = Madatory Spare Doubles?

Glad the story had a happy ending!

Good stuff. What coil are you using Tim?

phragle 08-12-2016 09:10 PM

OK...I am no engine guru, I have been following various engine threads with wide eyes taking as much in s I can because Im collecting parts to do a motor...

Why do you guys keep running MSD stuff when all you read about is people having problems with it. Is there nothing out there better?? or is better a whole lot more expensive??
