Blind mounting swim ladder? - 89 Baja 226 Islander
Hi,
First post :) I recently purchased an 89 Baja 226 Islander 226 open bow and I would like to mount a swim ladder under the integrated swim platform. I do not see any viable way to back up mounting hardware, as it does not appear I can access the ~6" deep cavity between the top of the platform and the bottom. i have seen others with this model with a swim ladder via online photos when researching, but I cannot tell how they are mounted. From research (and common sense) I am assuming all types of screws cannot be used, but I did find a product called blind fasteners, but I don't know how well I would be able to seal the installation to prevent water intrusion. I am a rookie, so am I missing something? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Joseph |
I installed a aquastep ladder under my Fountain a few years ago and it came with all the hardware. If you use a 3M marine sealant and do what they call a wet installation of the hardware you should be fine.

These Garelick fasteners/bolts have been discussed on here for mounting bolsters and heads. I think this could work for you guys. They are available in stainless steel. |
Thanks, may be worth a try.
