Ok update as of now...
Gained a solid 2-300 rpm, lake was FLAT and we know how that is with a old straight hull slug, 72.1 was best today with zero tuning, I know there's more there this was first trip out to make sure things ok, oil pressure is dropping so I need to bypass the earls oil stats and make sure that's wats doing that, I never had an issue before with oil... has to be stats Timing 34 Air fuels 11.5-12.0 at best 72mph@5600for first trip out, boat at best day ever last summer totally tuned went 73@5400-5450rpm totally wrung out so I'm happy so far. Stay tuned as I tune lol Yes I have a few drives and one more spare trans gotta keep that stuff on hand the way I run my tird lol |

When I say flat lake, I mean flat

Plan was to spin these to 5700 that woukd be about 75-76 mph... I need to see what rpm is after tuning to see where I end up.

AFR is about spot on. Weather was better than summer conditions by far. With the porting, it probably won't want any added timing. Rpm went up 200rpm and lost mph with same props? Hopefully there is more speed there with some chop, because I hate to be a negative Nancy critic, but I am struggling to see the "gains" light. Glad the boat is fixed and back on the water tho...

The water was spit flat, that hull was glued to water that is why there is no speed gain with a rpm gain... I am not done and this was a shakedown run, not a tuning session, never even labbed existing props or anything, I am not worried at all, the boat runs what it runs when done, this exhaust can still be an issue also but I do not know yet, there is for sure more power to gain 2-300 more rpm with same props, that's obvious, no failure on my part at this point, so I am happy. again this was a first trip out, to me the gains are going to be there and more importanty hoping reliable..last year I would have struggled to see 70 if that in the water conditions I had..

in the end things are what they are, if I boat every weekend I want to, and engines stay in boat for a while I am happy, I am over this whole mess anymore, next step is 420's

I was thinking 5,300 was all you got last summer, so that's where my 5,400 came from. 5600 is good :) Cant remember, how tall are the flame arrestors now?
