Turbulators for Gil exhaust
Does anyone use the turbulators(steel cone shaped gasket) that are made to go between the GIL exhaust manifold and riser ? I believe they are made to help prevent reversion but the hole in them is so small you'd think it would restrick the exhaust flow !!?? NO ??

I Believe there to stop condensation from leaking into the engine when the motor is shut off. They came with a set I used to have, I ran them.

Are you running wet or dry tails/risers? Also what cams? There's a few things that would dictate as to whether or not I'd use them. endeavor32 runs without them on his formula. 509's with 741 cams. No issues however he has dry risers. Not sure if that helps but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

My 99 HP 500 has them stock with silent choice and I'm sure they help. When in pulled the risers you could see where the turbulators had some minor surface rust from cool down and condensation ( maybe minor reversion.) I put them back in too because the manifolds and heads looked good.

From what I have heard there are two LSA "s on the 741 one is a112 and one is 114 which is the same as the 525. If it was me I would use the turbulators but your set up might have other factors like downward angle of pipes etc that wouldn't require it. My simpleton approach would be use them and remove one after a few hours to see if there are any traces of water.

I know when you remove them,,the exhaust gets way louder.or at least in my case.:D

Unless you are running dry exhaust I would keep the turbulators in, they do help with condensation and water that would otherwise be siting in your exhaust ports.
