Cleaning White Upholstery?
Done a quick search and didn't find anything. My interior is in descent shape for the age but a few spots are starting to look off white. I've tried a lot of different things. Lemon juice, on Walmart shelf leather cleaner, same cleaner lightly scrubbing with a Mr. Clean pad then conditioning, and a few others. Any suggestions or is there no cure to get the white looking close to original? My cockpit cover is always on when not in use. Garage kept.

Soft Scrub, scrub brush, elbo and rinse. Now it will be dull. Just use your favorite pleather protectant and it shines right back.

Believe it or not, Scrubbing Bubbles works really well, as does Roll Off.

I clean it with anything and touch up or go over large spots with Kiwi shoe polish. the one with the sponge on top. look great and last almost the season. and I have the nasty white carbon fiber.

I have narrowed my regimen down to Chlorox Clean-up for mildew and staining, magic erasers for stubborn areas or scuffs, and lemon pledge to remove skin oils, sunscreen stains and general weekly conditioning. I thought I got the vinyl clean on my boat I bought in a neglected state......couldn't believe how much more bright the pledge made it afterwards. Really took out the oil based stains that had soaked in. Plus the supple feel, shine, and non-greasy feel I haven't found with any other product/conditioner. Simple Green has taken out some heavy stains too but really dries the vinyl out it feels like, doesn't leave a good clean just being wiped off, must be rinsed.

I wouldn't suggest Magic Eraser on vinyl. It is actually an abrasive pad. Use a good vinyl cleaner to get the big stuff off, then let it set in the sun for the day.

Does pledge make it slippery? Last time I used pledged. It was for a sweet joke I played on my dad. Pledged up a spot on the hardwood floors. Hilarity ensued. He slipped and fell. I tried to run away but fell on my own pledge trap. He was already on the power swing with his belt by then. Hit me right in the nuts. He was damn fast on the draw with his belt. But his accuracy needed some work.
Thank you, Mark |
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
