Suggestions for a 35-38 cc under 300k?

Friend of mine has looked at 2 statements, one being a 35 with twin verados but it's a little slow. I told him go with a 38 with trips.
A few people mentioned the cuv with the cuddy is less desireable? Any thoughts on that?
Open to any comments or suggestions. No brand loyalty whatsoever. But seems to be a few statements in the area

The triple 38's are slow too. Local guy btb has one. His best number was 69 with no gear, fuel, or people. Pretty lackluster number for a near 1000hp boat with steps.

Statement Trips are 10,000 lbs dry (most are optioned out to 11k + dry), 10' beam and 250 gallons of fuel. Don't forget a very large hardtop. 69 MPH with trip 300s (900hp) is good, not a speed demon but an excellent ride. The Quad 300 Statements run 76-78, spent a lot of time on one.
