Sniper intake results?
Any builds out there with one on something between 540 and 572 CI?

Here's what I'm doing. 572 in a 9.8 block. Compression 10.6-10.8:1 Profiler 320 heads CNC chambers. Will have a nice valve job and hand work in the bowl's. Sniper Jr intake port matched, may weld length into runners. Have to get intakes in my hands so I can measure. They will be getting shear plates and I will dress the opening on the intake to make the shear plates work properly. 1150 Ultra Dominators. Hydraulic Roller Cams 264/[email protected] LSA(proprietary ) .714/.714 spin to 63-6400 rpm. 825-850hp. I'll have 1 motor ready for the dyno in 3-4weeks. If you are going to use Profiler heads get on it there are none available. I managed to find one set and have the second set on order...

The Jr is for 500-540 cid , I would switch to the Sniper X with bigger heads on anything over 540 CID. |
So how would the Sniper Jr compare to a Vic Jr on a 502 cu in Merc 525 long block with the Edelbrock heads & 525 cam, getting ready to purchase the intakes

The Sniper Jr is a excellent intake, I matched that on a 572 EFI build with Canfield 350s highly ported . 823 HP 89 octane.. Done at 6100 rpms... MK cam... thinking about switching it out with higher duration #s lift was a little more on a solid .010 lash...
The Jr is for 500-540 cid , I would switch to the Sniper X with bigger heads on anything over 540 CID. We did a 10.5:1 547 with the 320's bowl blend Valve job. Sniper jr. Port matched 1050 Dominator. 264/272 @.050 .715 .715 solid roller ancient lobes Racer Brown did the cam. Motor made 850hp at 6,500. Thing ran like a raped ape. Never stopped pulling. The Sniper II intake has a lot more cross sectional area than the Jr. and kills to much air speed imo... Over 7,000 some more cubes yeah Sniper II all the way. |

There is no comparison they are totally different intakes. One intake may work good on one motor and not so good on another. What you really need to know is the cross sectional areas in the heads and the length of the runner in the head.then based off cubic inch and rpm you can select the right intake. If you can get the runner length and cross sectional areas I can do some calculations for you and suggest the right intake for the application. My guess is probably going to be neither. But that is a guess. There may be another intake that is better suited to the build or maybe one of the above listed is perfect.
That Sniper looks like it could feed huge power. |
The suggested rpm range Vic jr 3500-7000 vs the Sniper jr 4000-8000.......I wont be spinning these over 6200 6300

Their heads and intakes do compliment each other well as they should. You shocked me on this I thought you'd be going 383cnc and edel sv565/632? Lol.. Tks for the input. John |
