I had a crane 139021 that is pretty close to the 741 with in 2*. I pulled it out and put in a .663-.655 lift 245-250 on 112ls. This is a 540 9.7comp. afr 315 heads with a 1050 dominator. Picked up 225 rpm"s. That"s real world on the water results.

Nice combo. What cam is that one you changed to? Looks like a great grind but I've not seen that one anywhere.
Tks

Cam Motion

I have Desktop Dyno software and on it shows that the Cam Motion would make less power than the Crane 741. Actually the Crane 139731 showed more power than the other two. On paper. The Crane 139731 was the cam I started with.

How do you enter the cam data for custom cams that dont list the valve timing events at .004 in your program? I know that if i use .050 numbers for the dyno sim runs, the smaller duration cams fall off much earlier. Tims 241/246 112 cam, peaked at 5800rpm on the real dyno. But they made very little more power going from 5200 to 5800.

The cam you have, is probably more along the lines of what i would choose for a 540. Even though my dyno software shows the 741 to do fairly well , i wouldnt use that cam in real life in that build. At least not one looking to turn 6000rpm, and make more than 650hp

I just use the .050 numbers.

I didn't think it was a shelf cam or I would have seen it at some point. Where do you figure your at hp wise based on your boat/speed/prop/rpm etc? As mentioned I'm building a couple of similar engines and would like to try a couple different cams on dyno. I've got one solid and would like try one hyd. The hyd you mentioned is near exactly what I'm looking for. Will give them a call.

I would guess the HP around 690 at least that's what the program say's. The cam # xh-246-390-250-385-12. Core3300069. I just should have had the compression ratio up to around 10.5.

Per my flow numbers and parts I have, these are the choices, one of them is Joe's grind, the others are other companies, I am not attaching names of who's is what to keep that part private.
