Looks like someone got off that dirt floor and started googling. Just kidding SB!
|
Just ask siri about cams
|
Now he needs to find one with a rod blowing out the side of it.
|
I was thinking,,my cam would have won had it been on a 108 lsa.:party-smiley-004: :D
|
Entering in the 540ci with afr head parameters, here's a quick rundown of duration and LSA spec'd by the cam software.
5000RPM 228/232 110 LSA 5500RPM 242/246 109 LSA 6000RPM 255/260 108 LSA 6500RPM 268/272 109 LSA 7000RPM 280/285 111 LSA 7500RPM 292/297 114 LSA 8000RPM 303/308 115 LSA |
see.108 for the win.:Dcan't wait for my trophie.
|
LSA falls where it is, just as long as it's 108. :D

I had a crane 139021 that is pretty close to the 741 with in 2*. I pulled it out and put in a .663-.655 lift 245-250 on 112ls. This is a 540 9.7comp. afr 315 heads with a 1050 dominator. Picked up 225 rpm"s. That"s real world on the water results.

Nice combo. What cam is that one you changed to? Looks like a great grind but I've not seen that one anywhere.

I have Desktop Dyno software and on it shows that the Cam Motion would make less power than the Crane 741. Actually the Crane 139731 showed more power than the other two. On paper. The Crane 139731 was the cam I started with.

The cam you have, is probably more along the lines of what i would choose for a 540. Even though my dyno software shows the 741 to do fairly well , i wouldnt use that cam in real life in that build. At least not one looking to turn 6000rpm, and make more than 650hp |
I just use the .050 numbers.

I didn't think it was a shelf cam or I would have seen it at some point. Where do you figure your at hp wise based on your boat/speed/prop/rpm etc? As mentioned I'm building a couple of similar engines and would like to try a couple different cams on dyno. I've got one solid and would like try one hyd. The hyd you mentioned is near exactly what I'm looking for. Will give them a call. |
I would guess the HP around 690 at least that's what the program say's. The cam # xh-246-390-250-385-12. Core3300069. I just should have had the compression ratio up to around 10.5.

Per my flow numbers and parts I have, these are the choices, one of them is Joe's grind, the others are other companies, I am not attaching names of who's is what to keep that part private.

Well I have not posted because I was sick of the hating and bashing on myself and what I am doing, but some people care so I am gonna see for fun what cam people suggest over what I actually ended up with... attaching flow sheets to get accurate info, a couple guys here know my info but most don't, so what do you guys think? 7 cam grinders all almost identical in choice so I am confident results should be nice, trying one last time to share my info and build to Gus that want the education as it's been a ton of learning... wonder what HP will be?? Hope to afford dyno when done we will see, probablybe more about timeframe then $
