Later on i went up to a 252/259 at .050 w about same lift, motor pulled to 6500 instead of 6300 but made similar pump gas numbers (was waaay past limit of blower, blower drive etc)

I feel maybe I might be better going with some better heads and going with a little smaller cam. Maybe I can make some decent power and not have to waist as much fuel to do it. I don't know. I am still taking in all the great info I have gotten so far. Nobody has really mentioned a custom cam. Might be because I started off saying a shelf cam is what I have been looking at.

From some of your posts you are asking to build way more of an engine than what your stated goals are. With the camshafts, cylinder heads and a supercharger that are being discussed this boat will be well in the 100mph zone and probably faster than most would ever run a 22 ft boat.

My cam thoughts were seeming to small to some. I just want to make as much power as possible without blowing a lot of fuel out the exhaust at a possible 2200 RPM cruise. I had a 24 bravo 1 with 1.36 gears and it stayed on plane nicely at 2200 RPM, not sure what will happen with a 28 prop, I would guess my cruise speed would be around 35 MPH. I hope I will be running a 28-30 bravo 1 prop in the end. looking for around 5500 RPM up top.

My build was done with the same mindset... I used some different components than you're looking at but it turned out pretty good... Unfortunately, the jury is still out as far as reliability.. I've only put 5 hours on it since dyno.. Working on getting it in a more suitable hull for next year.. ;) |
That is some very impressive power with a smallish cam. Nice! I love the Prochargers. I had a M3 on a 509. I had to wait for the power, thank heavens or I would have went through a lot of Bravo drives. As soon as my boat would lay over it was an animal.
