Is it a website? A builder? What are the specs?

I'd want to know what heads they are using, what compression ratio, and generel specs of the cam. It looks like they are using the profiler intake, so maybe they are using the Profiler 320 head, which is a good head but they don't mention a thing as to the brand. At at a bare minimum least I'd want to know where the engine makes its power.

IMO, there is no way they are building 700 hp out of a 510 CI engine. For comparison here are my engines which are 650 hp. 509 CI, Crane 741 cam, 10:1 cr, Dart Pro 1 310 heads (ported by Jim V to 320, it takes one hell of a head to out flow these, they flow 394 cfm @ .70), Dart intakes and holley hp 950 carbs. I'm sure there is a bit to be gained by going to a bigger carb, have the intake ported and bump up the compression a bit more. Either way I don't think there is another 50 hp to be found, maybe but I doubt it.

I'm doing a similar build. Using EQheads. I think the 741 is a nice cam but leaves some on the table. Only a 525 cam. I'd be willing to bet you could find power in the cam. Also I'm not gonna be 10:1 keeping compression lower in case I wanna boost it. Lol

endeavour32 01-02-2017 06:27 PM

The thing to remember about the 525 is that they dyno out at around 565 hp. The intake, while better than the 500 efi intake, is a major restriction and the edelbrock heads are nothing great. Ha, yes the 741 is by no means the hottest cam on the planet, but the one thing that it is, is "ole reliable". When I pull the engines in the spring, I toyed with swapping out the cams for something newer, but what am I really going to gain, 15 hp? Not worth it in my book, 741's work and are drama free. At some point I am going to send the intakes off to Wilson and see what they can do with them.

Leif,

I e-mailed you, send me the build sheets and I'll post them for you.

Where did yours make peak power? I'm looking at spinning 5800-6000.

endeavour32 01-02-2017 07:51 PM

I bought these engines from Tinkerer I have not dyno'd them myself and I don't think I got an RPM number from him. I know I was told to prop them between 5600-5900. I'm currently at 5600 and I'm happy there. When prop testing I started with 30 bravo's and spun them at 4800 RPM's. I ended up with 26 Bravos at 5600 RPM's. Speed gain for proper RPMs=0. I started at 80 and ended at 80 and I tested well over 5 different sets of props. The one thing I forgot to mention is I'm running 1.8 rockers on the intakes so that will change things slightly.

Did you see Mild Thunders post on all the various cams and the results? The best average power came from a 741 cam. I'll be honest, I was rather shocked at the results.
