Bravo XR Trim Insert Adjuster Positioning
Can this spacer be placed in the forward position for a standard Bravo XR? I know Merc says to put in the forward position for the Bravo IIIs only but i need more negative trim and was thinking this would help. Thanks in advanced for any help.

Eric,
Are you talking about the spacer that goes in the back for the drive for the trim ram pin location? If so, I've ran my boat with it both ways and have had no issues. I wanted to run my current set up with the pin forward but my tie bar mounts hit on the drive now that I'm running swept back uppers, so I have to run it with the pin in the front. Also the uppers on a BIII and a B-I are 100% the same. When I built my current uppers, one was a B III X case and one was B 1 XR. Now they are both B1 XR's. Hope that helps! |
It's sometimes referred to as the "celery stick" since it looks like one.
No issue with swapping it's position. |
You may want to check clearances under the helmet for interference with going all of the way down. I shortened my rams 3/4 inch for more negitave trim and had to do some selective cutting and grinding to get the drive to go down to where I wanted it.
do you want the extra negative trim to help getting on plane? |
Yes the spacer that goes in the back for the drive for the trim ram pin location or commonly known as the celery stick. And yes i would like the extra negative trim to help get on plane. Thank you guys for the help.

I did exactly what your talking about on our last boat, 05 353 Fastech 525s XR ITS and it helped getting on plane with no problems at all.
|
It will work either way. Does help getting on plane with my setup. Only downside is you have to be careful with bowsteer when running with it all the way in.

^^^^^ correct and Merc warns about it plus any other possible ill handling effects when too much negative trim can take place. Also deep Vee wander can get worse

Putting the stick in front and pin towards the back will give you more negative trim
