cam suggestion
building a 468 and was thinking of going with the comp cam 284hr do you guys think this cam will work with stock cast iron exhaust or will i get reversion.thanks
|
If you're building a 468 why would you stay with stock exhaust? I would imagine its budget related but at that point you'd be better off staying with stock everything. i don't know the specs on that cam but merc uses some pretty tame cams for the reversion reason. I think the stock 502 mag cam was on a 115.5 LSA. With like .483 lift. You can get a hold of gils or stainless marine for a decent price. Would certainly be worth it

http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=449&sb=2 I have one in a 439 cid BBC.. it WOULD have reversion with stock exhaust manifolds..... I was running Eddie Marine manifolds with the long riser option and it worked fine... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UX0wQBukI8 |
yes boatally insane that is the cam I'm talking about i ran gills on my last boat and ended up selling them because i didn't gain any mph out of them compared to the stock ones. thanks guys.

this is a budget build for me i have a hydrolic roller cam from bob m that my brother gave me and i have set of solid roller lifters from a motor i had before. i was wondering if i can use these lifters with that cam

Slowly put the wrench down and step away from the motor.
You may be the nicest guy in the world with nothing but the best intentions.... However your budget build is about to cost you a lot more money and you will probably have a new hobby before it is all said and done. |
