Speaking of flame arresters...I think you will be shocked at what you see there, just for grins Smitty try a pull with just a good air filer base that has a nice flow to it, that should give you your base line, as that should be worth power over nothing at all...

Made little if any difference on mine with the 4500

I remember mike tkach dynoing his 1200hp whippled 588, with and without the flame arrestors, and it wasnt a change. Maybe a couple two three, but nothing noteable. Dual carb style flame arrestor. Not the lame ones with the KN style filters.

I noticed a decline in performance when I took the spark arrestor off at the lake. It seemed like just a little bit of resistance is good to straighten out the air.

I think we lost 4 hp with a 14x4 marine K&N flame arrestor

My 14 by 4 K&N only lost 2 or 3 HP over the dyno air flow hat.
I'd have to look at the sheet, but iit was insignificant. |
