You'll get about a million answers...

We've run straight 40 weight
15-50 M1 full syn
20-50 M1 full syn
15-50 amsoil dominator
20-50 joe gibbs

You can't really go wrong with any of them.

I really like the vr1 20w50.

Rotella T 15-40

I always thought that 50wt would be the only way to go and surprised to see 40wts. I guess as long as the oil pressure is good and it's changed often is the most important thing.

The diesel oils have just went thru another round of Zinc and phos reductions and or some other additive reductions for the current EPA regulations.. I would not use any diesel oils currently. .

Would not use motorcycle oils either. They have to meet a certain amount of friction requirements so the all the clutch assemblies do not slip.

Driven motor oil, I would go with for a Syn oil or Vr1 Valvoline I have always had good luck with their straight 40 w.Vr1 racing Non syn. With straight 40 w oil the outside air temps is suggestion is above 50 degrees.or 60 degrees. Basically is for start up oil flow. Or go with 20 W - 50 Vr1

Or LAT motor oil or NEO or Klotz or Maxima and so on

When I was using merc oil I was going through about a half of a quart every 3 to 5 hours of run time now with the vrl it's less than a half every 10 hours or so. The motors seam more happy. I also started running royal purple 90w gear lube in the drives and I noticed it don't burn out like mercs and the drives seam to run cooler checked with a gun after hard runs once on the lift and out of the water so not the most accurate way.

Drives will cool fast as soon as you come off plane, only way to see accurate is add temp gauges..
