Prop Question
What rpm difference should I see from a Bravo 1 26" pitch to a Bravo 1 28" pitch? I ran them both this week. The 26" turned 5500 rpm at 73mph, the 28" turned 4800 rpm at 70 mph. The 26" is bone stock, the 28" has been reworked and had the blades thinned before I got it. Any ideas? Thanks..

On stock props, 2" of pitch equals about 400rpms.

I suspect we'll see your bravo one 28p in the swap shop. Seems like your speed would be a little more with the 26p @ 5,500 rpm. Regardless I would think the 26p would be much more responsive when you crack the throttle. Keep the 28 for vacation. Lol.

you go longer pitch to pick up top speed. every other characteristic of performance will suffer some. you lost top speed. means you don't currently have the necessary power to justify more pitch. trimming, timing, tuning you might get back to the speed you were running with the 26 prop. I would stay with the 26. which is I guess what getr is saying with the swap shop comment.

BBCs don't even sound right under 5k. Lol...

The key is the 28 has been reworked, so who knows what was done to it. It could be reworked totally wrong for his boat.

I'm guessing it has been repitched to 29 or a 30" pitch. It actually works good in holeshot and cruise. Just can not spin it enough for my HP. Thanks for the responses.

I just thought of another way to go. Brodix heads, Victor intake, 525 efi cam,950 holley and a set of stellings...Prolly spin that prop pretty good.

True but if he's pulling a 26p 5,500 he's got something going on assuming drive is 1.5.
