ProMaxx 317 heads arrived
Big Al of AK Racing just prepped up a set of the new ProMaxx 317 heads for my Whipplecharged 500 EFI build. First of all I am pleased with the casting quality of the heads, much finer finish than the Edelbrocks I used on my last build. Deck thickness is very beefy as well as the machining is spot on. Al talked me thru all the special details need for a marine application, and especially a supercharged one. Guide clearance, seat width, 2.30 intakes and Inconel exhausts, spring selection and setup to match my cam, and a quick turn around. Will not have any operating details for a month or two but I am excited to bolt them on. Wish I could post some motorhead porn pics
Al also included a couple of special details, such as a sweet "Supercharged" logo on the front ends. Easy and knowledgeable guy to work with, and very affordable for true "ready-to-bolt-on" heads.

Well, finally got the rest of the details on our build worked out and got the boat back in the water. All I can say is Awesome! I don't have the luxury of a dyno to test so I am doing it the hard way, see how fast we can go. 83 mph at 5300-5400 (tach bouncing a bit) It pulls like a freight train and I have to give some credit to these heads setup by Al at AK racing. I have near 17 hours on the boat with multiple full throttle runs getting the tuning right and have no issues to date.
Thanks Al!
Thanks Al!
