I personally am a fan of the 575, but if you can't turn a wrench, I would look for a boat with different power. Mine makes over 700hp now and I have only broken 1 drive in a heavy 28' boat over 5 seasons. I wouldn't let the XR drive scare me.
that is actually the reason im on the market haha, i didnt want to mess with my old boat. was pretty sure i was going to take something that was set up perfect and ruin it. know my way around the older gm stuff so i think i should be good to tinker, dont know blowers at all. went turbo in the street use so that will be the biggest learning curve i believe

My previous boat had HP500's, really, the only difference ( maintenance wise)is changing the oil in the supercharger ( if they're the weiands ( W on the front housing) you have to change the oil in the rear housing) Its not that big of a deal to do, unplug the injectors, IAC, IAT, TPS, MAP, disconnect the fuel line, throttle cable, remove the belt and the 10 retaining nuts and it's ready to come off, oh and they require 91 octane vs 87 for the 500's

Send the ECU out for Recalibration. Eddie Young and others can do this. You could find another ECU and send that out so you dont have any down time. In fact I have one I would sell.

if you where to part with it, what would you want for it
