700 SCI idle adjustment

One of my 700's is idling a little high , does any one know if the idle can be adjusted manually or is the idle controlled by the computer ? Thanks.
Mark

Controlled by PCM and IAC components

Thanks Griff, guess I will have to get it adjusted by a Mercury tech with the diagnostic tools.

problem is either iac or map sensor.

or a vacuum leak

Thanks guys, IAC, map sensor or vaccum leak I assume would all show up on the Mercury Tech diagnostic tool once it is plugged into the ECM ?

Make sure the the throttle blade is closing all the way when the throttle it pulled all the way back to rule out a loose/worn throttle cable.

Im not 100% sure, but I would image the merc scanner would be able to see the IAC idle counts with the engine running to help aid in the repair, it should see info from the MAP sensor as well.

Merc diagnostic tools show alot of info but you still need to use mechanical motor sense, it doesnt tell you necessarily exactly what is wrong.
Merc tools can not adjust the idle that would have to come from a programmer.
More than likely something is hanging up somewhere. Throttle cable not allowing it to return all the way or something silly.

Thanks Hustlerguy and toolate I will check the mechanical issues first , boat is still in storage but will get at it soon. This is all related to wanting to get the shift interrupt switch working properly. Recieved my manual and it shows me how to properly set up the gap on the switch but I think I should first make sure the idle is at 750, last fall is was reading a little over 800. I doubt if this is affecting the operation of the switch but with all the electronics in these engines now maybe it has something to do with it.
