Hydraulic lifter
Could there be any issues with hydo lifters that have been not ran in a couple years, low hours on them since new ?? would they gunk up, not pass oil

if it is not to hard to do pull the distributor and prime the pump for 5 minutes,if the distributor is hard to get to just start it up,you should be ok.

Im going to prime on the stand, maybe my drill doesn't have enough chit in its britches,

i use a 1/2 inch air drill.the battery operated drills don,t work so good.

i am not a fan of pre oiler,s,i have had trucks with 300000 + miles on them that got started a million times, sometimes in below zero temp, sometimes 100+ temp and they have no pre oiler,s.imo they are a waste of money that could be better spent on quality parts.

If they did get gunked up use Marvel Mystery oil per the instructions on the bottle to fix. I did so after my boat sat with the previous owner for 1.5 yrs. Flat tappet lifters went from clacking away to purring after a 2 hr run on the water with MMO and subsequent oil change.

Bought a 1/2 inch corded drill, it takes a long run time on to get these things primed, seems to be working.
thanks for the input |
I would be far more worried about the valve springs if engine been sitting without being turned over for long periods, 1/3 of the springs will have been sitting open under pressure and kills them...
|
The valves were never ran after they came out of the machine shop and assembled,
