fuel pump
I have a 1999 502 MPI my fuel pump went bad. I bought a after market electric pump using the OEM number, the push on fitting is very loose used OEM number when ordering parts is there a fix for this Mercury no longer has this pump.:D

Did you replace the 4 o-rings (2 on each side of the push in 90* fitting between pump and fuel cooler ?
I think Merc still sells the pump and cooler as a kit together. Rumor has it that Merc's OE pump is Airtex also...if that's the brand you got as aftermarket ? Edit in: Don't forget to use a good heat transfer paste between pump and mounting plate....don't use any clear dielectric grease most manufacturer's/ part stores try to pawn off as heat transfer paste. Dielectric grease is clear - most good heat transfer paste's are white, but never clear. |
The Airtek pump is E11004
Also make sure the line is going all the way in. If its just a little shy, the pin can go in and you think its good until it comes out. First hand knowledge |
Yes I replaced all 4 o rings on the push in 90. If Mercury sells a pump and cooler as a kit I can not find a part number. No, I do not know which pump I got, it was a no name pump got from Mr. Fuel Pump. Got the o rings from Bam Marine in a clear bag wondering if they are right size I matched the two up they same.
