A rubber mallet . That shaft is just an extension that is slid over the splines on the trans main shaft. Back when i did this swap, it took about 20 minutes removing the trs tailstick, trs coupler shaft, and installing ssm coupler shaft and tailstock.

stuff like that doesn't show in the manual since it wasn't TRS specific. so, one could also put these shaft extensions and housings on a shaft boat borg?

take the short tail off the doner trans.. including the bearing and shaft assembly, also remove same from TRS use the gasket Joe mentioned and reinstall the short (#3) tail shaft and bearing into the cover then install onto transmission... not a difficult job, just make sure splines line up and gasket surfaces are clean...
