Default Water temp sender

Put new temp sender in my 502 mpi, it now runs 185 degrees when it should be 160. Is it possible I got wrong temp sender?

Its possible but could also be your motor is that hot. Have an IR temp gun to measure the thermostat housing?

What sender did you get?

No temp gun just, got sender at west marine. Impeller mite be going bad. Just wanted to make sure cause I thought temp sender are all the same.

Most are, but its not 100 percent. The North American standard is 240 (cold) to 33 (hot) ohms

judging by a lot of your posts I assume you fix these things for a living?
