What carbs would you use for a stock 420
What carbs/CFM would you use on stock 420's with TRS setup?
|
Quickfuel 850M

Otherwise Holley 800 dp. I think the marine is the 8022. They ran extremely well on 454/480 hp's. Endless options really but all I can do is speak from my own experience.

I was wondering what the STOCK ones would have came with new. The dealer wants to replace the carbs instead of rebuilding them. He is thinking 650's. Seems a little lite to me.

Understandable at $100+hr, but you'd be better to take them off and have someone else rebuild them.

Find a new dealer. Stock carbs were Holley 800cfm
the carbs as part of the deal. So, I would rather have new ones. I just don't want too small CFM. Dumb question, would there be a problem if I got him to get 800's when it should only have 650 or 700? Is it gonna run too rich? |
If your dealer cannot tell what carbs are on the engines and what carbs should be on the engines then I wouldn't even trust them to install new, proper CFM carbs.

Not many mechanics (auto / boat / sled / motorcycle) know carburetors anymore. Younger generation is mostly FI. Yes, we are getting old. :)
