Running a thermostat or Not
When running a crossover on BBC and CMI headers what is everyone doing as far as a thermostat goes, are you running no thermostat or a restrictor plate?
|
Thermostat with two holes drilled in it. No blower..
|
What size holes allows enough cooling past the thermostat prior to it opening? 1/8" ?also what temp thermostat do you recommend?

I have 4. 3/32

Okay, all crossover's aren't the same.
So...how does everyone list what they have and show how it's rigged ? I dunno. |
I screwed with it for half a damn season. Drilling holes, restrictor plates, etc.....I got tired of dicking with it and went back to no stats. at least I know I'm getting a good flush when I'm back on the lift.

I wouldn't go over 140 temp even though water isn't that warm the heads build a lot of heat . Drill the holes. Like i said im using 4 . 3/32 holes but going to open them up. Also cp has 120 high flow t stats for 40 bucks each.also seems like it takes a while for t stats to settle in . Maybe boil them a few times before installing them. Mine fluctuated around until i drove it a few times up to temp for a while
