Holley Sniper EFI
So, anyone running the Holley Sniper EFI on thier engines? Does it work good? Any changes needed to make it run other than the O2 location in the manifold?
Thinking of upgrading for one on my OMC 5.8 in my restored Bayliner 2755. |
Gonna make that bayliner run good. There was a guy in town here who did the same thing but traded it for a huffy 10 speed. I will check with him and see if I can get him to post with results etc.

That would be great if he could! Think it would work really good.

a guy at my marina asked me about installing them on the 454 engines in his 43 foot cruiser,he said he hates the q jet carbs and wants to make them run like his late model chevy pickup.

To OP what is the real reason for going efi. Throttle response, hard starting, fuel economy, smoother idle??? Couldn't find any problems with the sniper efi system however just don't want you to have expectations etc and this not be your answer. I definately would call holley tech and find proper location for the o2 sensor as it sounds like that's that only issue anyone's really had. I assume you checked out the holley efi sniper forum. I'd call tech and give him your exact application and components and go from there.

I'm not running the Holley Sniper, but I do have the older Holley Commander 950 system on my blower motors. They were built by Keith Eickert, so I think that says enough. He does use the EFI Technologies computer to run everything, but I see no reason why there would be a problem with the stock Holley computer. I've not run them in my boat yet, but I think you are safe to go with the Sniper kit. You will need to have an O2 bung in one of your pipes, but thats not a big deal. If you're planning on using stock exhaust, it's not going to work, you are going to need stainless tails, and you must keep the O2 sensor dry.
