Used roller lifters
what is everybody’s thaught on buying used roller lifters with dyno and maybe 10 hrs ????
|
If I had a friend that was selling lifters that I knew the known time on them, I would buy them without hesitation. Taking someone else's word, maybe not so much. Why were they pulled? I have seen a few sets that have been pulled for noise and not being able to go past 5400 RPM's on the dyno.

I know of a parts wholesaler/retailer that has told resellers to sell defective ones (lifters) on ebay/racing junk/etc as dyno time only also.
Be careful out there. |
I tried selling used morels...no one wanted them.

I was at a car show a few years ago. I overheard a guy talking how he just sold some highly used lifters as only having a few hours on them and laughing about it. That was a wake up call for me. I used to think most were as honest as I am while selling used parts.

Rookie nailed it pretty well. Why would anyone sell expensive lifters after dyno time only? I feel the sme about rollers rockers too, and you can throw in fresh water only headers in there too. There are too many losers out there selling shady crap.

I wouldn't buy used valvetrain parts unless they were from a friend and could be absolutely qualified as already mentioned.
that said, I've had great luck selling used engine parts on eBay. It's unbelievable what guys will buy used. sold the cam, solid roller lifters, valves, valve springs and pistons from the core engine I bought. All top shelf stuff, but not quantifiable. i listed the stuff with unknown hours as I didn't know the history of the stuff and it sold quickly. The 55mm cam took awhile to sell, but I got 300 bucks for it. Dude writes me a week after I shipped it wanting to know why it won't fit his 454. I explained to him that the "55mm" in the eBay listing meant it was a larger core and it wouldn't fit. Never heard back from him again. Lol |
full race cams have larger journals .......:angry-smiley-038:

Well when it comes to stuff like this we always go new ,but i know a guy that is cleaning out his shop and had been playing around with different combo and stuff. He had access to a dyno ....i total agree abt shade guys out there ,,im a very honest man ,,,and i treat others like i would want treated ,,mom told me be honesty .....

I bought used set from Dennis r here however we have a relationship and it was very obvious they were very low hour solids. I sold a set of hyd crowed rollers with dyno time only to a member. They also had little to no signs of use.
basically rookie was spot on. |
